Remember this post? Early last January, I posted pictures about the basement remodel. Remember the removal of carpet on the drummer's birthday in 2007?
And the crypt opening that same night?
This is one of many times Jack walked away trying to figure out what to do to fix the next mess we'd uncovered...
This is the bullseye Jr and the Drummer painted and threw hatchets at on the wall they were about to demolish. Boys. What are you gonna' do with 'em?
And here is the Drummer standing amidst the demolition work. Notice the wiring, plumbing, lighting, walls, etc. issues that needed to be resolved.
The pile of wood on the left side of the pic is the remnants of the walls the drummer knocked out. Note the wiring hanging from the ceiling--many, many different wires...
More wires, more sheetrock, more debris...
This is the general feeling in the room whenever Jack and Jr were trying to convince each other that he had the best plan in mind, rather than the plan the other was proposing.
Oh the tools we/they used.
The Drummer might say he doesn't do sheetrock, but this photo would indicate otherwise.
Seriously, someone had to do something with all of the assorted wires hanging from the old ceiling. Identify, determine usefulness, eliminate and run new wires. And note the two black plumbing lines running from the upstairs laundry room through the proposed pool table room and into the floor down to the sewer. Somebody had to figure out what to do with those babies. As well as those vertical pieces of wood every ten feet or so. What to do with them?
And did I mention the radiators (see the long silver device on the floor at the end of the room) that needed to be removed, plumbing rerun, and new radiators installed?
Preparing to paint--serious painter--using the new airless sprayer
Creative painter, not quite so serious, but still...
There was plenty of horseplay or JoJo play...
Painting has been accomplished
Insulation and wiring is progressing, note the sewer line is gone as are the vertical beams in the walls...
and then the carpet was installed
geez, more to do--lighting, ceilings, windows...
laser-leveled ceiling grid, so many lights it feels like early morning
completed ceiling, lighting, painting, carpet...always a mess of construction debris to discard
still need to build and install a couple of cabinets and a countertop and bar, but a feller's gotta iron his shirt sometimes...
then, Jack made the mistake of stopping at a furniture store with me the other day and we came out with a desk for him and a heap 'o stuff for the theater room...
I did not even look at the back of the truck until we got home. No wonder Jack wouldn't let the Drummer ride in the chair in the back of the truck on the way home.
And here is the theater room--and no leather sectional unit thank you very much
probably can't see how great the picture looks, but I suspect Jack and I will never go out to a movie again.
The boys are working on their pool hustling skills...
and I'll be using these babies to get ready for skiing in a couple of weeks and riding my bike when the snow melts.
Yes, there are still some windows to install and the crown molding isn't up yet in the theater. We may need to do a bit of furniture moving to get it all just right, but I'm telling you, Jack and the boys have done a fine job. And in another six months, his thumb should be all healed up.
